A Mi Madre Le Gustan Las Mujeres (ES 2002; 96'; AKA My Mother Likes Women) . . .
.
Style: Drama
Director: Daniela Fejerman, Inés París
Main Cast: Leonor Watling (Elvira), Rosa María Sardà (Sofía), María Pujalte (Gimena), Silvia Abascal (Sol), Eliska Sirová (Eliska)
Divorced mother Sophia confesses at the end of her birthday party to her three grown-up daughters Gimena, Elvira (who plays the biggest part in this film) and Sol, that she's in love with brilliant female Czech concert pianist Eliska who is about the age of her daughters. They don't accept that and try their best to break them up, which works. Now Sophia is so very depressed that the daughters change their mind and travel to the Czech Republic to convince Eliska to go back to mom. Varying from light-hearted comedy to comedic drama, this film is not so much about accepting lesbianism as about real women in their twenties trying to make (sometimes neurotic) sense of a variety of happenings. The part where rock singer Sol, the youngest daughter, sings a song about her mother being a lesbian, is hilarious.

This title can be bought from Coolness as Region 2 DVD for €15
