| Two fifteen-year-old girls and best friends, Claude and Ellen, live in a rough part of the Bronx, New York, in which the subculture is about drugs, live music, and homophobia. Direction and acting are very good is this film and the characters develop credibly. The natural lesbian aspect is present on a very subtle level, where Claude explores her budding sexuality with needy drug-addict Ellen (who hates herself and also has an older boyfriend Mark, a real shit, that treats her badly) and actually becomes lovers with red-haired punk-rocker Lucy. Very realistic, but not too depressing. |
