| When lesbian Rachel breaks up with Reggie, she decides it's enough with al these breakups and moves from New York to her parents' home in San Diego, where she has several bad blind dates. Finally her mother sets her up with Christine. This relationship has developed nicely over the next year, despite the religion difference between Christine (Protestant Christian), who is required to convert, and Rachel (Jewish), but when they begin to plan their wedding, Rachel’s old flame Reggie makes a comeback attempt with a proposal. Her friends know that Rachel still has feelings for her and expect another breakup. Helen Lesnick starts the film from her planned wedding and then shows flashbacks. Her character Rachel is so undesirable in many ways that two women fighting over her must be the most unrealistic thing in this film, especially since we do not get to see the first happy year between Christine and Rachel. Michele Greene plays her role well, but for the rest, this is a typical lesbian film which shows poor direction and poor acting. The good thing about this film is that it is not about BEING lesbian, as opposed to many other films, and exactly that is what makes this film worthwhile, although the over-the-top tolerance can be a bit unbelievable. |
