the Lovell radio telescope in Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, England

The radio telescope in Jodrell Bank, first ran in 1957. It was called the Mark 1.
After vast improvements in 1969 to 1971 it was renamed Mark IA. In 1987, the
Mark IA was renamed the Lovell Telescope in honor of its creator.
It has a dish of 76 meters in diameter and weighs 3200 tons.
It is situated near the University of Manchester's botanical station at a
little known place called Jodrell Bank, 20 miles south of Manchester.
Latitude = 53° 14' 13.2" north, longitude = 0° 09' 14.04" east.
